Kagami

About me

My path into counselling came through both professional and personal experience.

Before training as a counsellor, I worked as a midwife, where I saw how much emotional support can be needed, but not always fully held. Alongside this, my own experience of living with a long term health condition led me to seek support myself.

That combination continues to shape the way I now work. I offer a calm, thoughtful space where you can feel genuinely heard, especially during times of change, loss, or uncertainty.

I know that starting counselling can feel like a big step. You do not need to have everything figured out before you begin. We can take things at your pace and focus on what feels most important to you.

How I work

Clients often come to me because they are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or not quite themselves.

In our work together, there is no pressure to perform or to have the right words. We take time to understand what is going on for you and what you might need, rather than rushing to fix things.

My approach is grounded in person centred therapy, while also drawing on psychodynamic, attachment, and trauma informed perspectives. In simple terms, that means we can gently explore both what is happening now and how your past experiences may be shaping things, always at a pace that feels manageable.

Areas I often support with

While I work with a range of issues, I have particular experience supporting people with:

Pregnancy loss and fertility journeys
Including miscarriage, trying to conceive, and the emotional impact this can have on your sense of self, your body, and your relationships.

Living with a long term health condition
Exploring how ongoing health challenges can affect identity, confidence, and day to day life, and finding a way forward that feels more manageable.

Life changes, anxiety, and feeling lost in yourself
Times when something has shifted and you are left wondering where the old you went, or who you are now.

Working with couples

I also offer counselling for couples who are finding things difficult and want a space to talk, understand each other, and find a way forward together.

This might include navigating pregnancy loss, miscarriage, or the emotional impact of fertility journeys. These experiences can place a quiet but significant strain on a relationship, even when both people are trying their best to cope.

I also support couples where one partner is living with a long term health condition. This can affect not only the individual, but the relationship itself, sometimes bringing changes in roles, communication, and how you relate to each other.

At times, couples come to counselling because communication has become difficult, or because they feel stuck in patterns they cannot seem to shift. You may find yourselves having the same conversations over and over, or struggling to say what you really mean.

In our work together, I offer a calm, balanced space where both of you can feel heard. Together, we can begin to understand what is happening between you and gently find ways to reconnect and communicate more openly.

A final note

Finding the right counsellor is a very personal decision. It needs to feel like a good fit.

If you’re feeling lost, overwhelmed, or simply need a space to think and feel things through, you’re very welcome to get in touch.

Kagami means “reflection” in Japanese. For me, it speaks to having a space where you can begin to see yourself more clearly, with understanding rather than judgement.

It’s also my daughter’s middle name, which gives it a personal meaning. It reflects the values that guide my work: care, resilience, and connection.

If you feel this might be the right space for you, you can start with a free 20 minute call.

A chance to ask questions, get a feel for how I work, and see if it feels like a good fit for you.
