I’m Claire, a qualified therapist, and someone who knows what it’s like to live through loss, change, and uncertainty.
I grew up with an imperfect childhood, and in midlife, becoming disabled changed everything I thought I knew about myself. It was not only my body that changed, but also my identity, my relationships, and the way I moved through the world. I had been defined by being a midwife, and when that was taken away from me, I never thought life would recover.
In searching for who I was beyond those losses, I discovered the quiet strength of reflection. Looking closely at my own story allowed me to see not only the pain, but also the possibility. In time, that search for meaning led me to counselling. What began as a single course grew into a degree, and along the way I learnt so much about myself. Now I carry that learning forward, so I can walk alongside others as they make sense of their own stories.

Kagami means “reflection” in Japanese, and for me it captures the essence of therapy: a space where we begin to see ourselves more clearly, not through judgment but through compassion. It is the invitation to turn inward, to find a state of introspection.
Kagami is also my daughter’s middle name, which makes it especially meaningful to carry into my practice. Holding her name at the heart of this work is a reminder of love, resilience and connection, qualities I hope to nurture with those I sit alongside.
The stories I share here are woven with my own, reminders that healing is never a solitary path. To sit together in this space is to create the possibility of safety, trust and change. And always, there is hope
You don’t have to face this alone.
Together, we can begin the work of healing, gently, honestly, and in your own time.
